William Joseph Chaminade (1761–1850)
Founding priest
French priest and founder of the Marianist Family, William Joseph Chaminade rebuilt communities of faith after the French Revolution.
Biography
During the persecution he carried out the ministry clandestinely and later organized Marian congregations made up of committed lay people. She founded the Daughters of Mary Immaculate and the Company of Mary to educate and evangelize. He was convinced that all the baptized must seek new paths to bring closer those who are far from the Church. His filial trust in Mary gave him peace in the midst of trials and destitutions.
