Hilario (+468)
Martyr
Saint Hilary (+468) A native of Sardinia, he was a trusted man of Pope Saint Leo for whom he carried out dangerous assignments among the Monophysitist heretics, who martyred Saint Flavian.
Biography
Hilary was saved by placing himself under the protection of Saint John the Evangelist, to whom he promised to extend his cult in Rome. When he became pope in 461, he fulfilled his promise by having two oratories dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist built in the Lateran Basilica, and thus John's name was forever linked to the Lateran.
