Hildegard Burjan (1883–1933)

Founding wife

Wife, mother, politician and founder, Hildegarda Burjan showed that holiness can transform public life and social action.

Biography

Born into a Jewish family, she received Catholic baptism after overcoming a serious illness. In Vienna she defended working women and promoted laws inspired by Christian social justice; In 1918 he founded Caritas Socialis to serve families, the sick and vulnerable people. He fueled his intense activity with the Eucharist and faithfully fulfilled his family duties.
