Homobond (+1197)
family man
He lived up to his name (Uomobono = good man), because this son of a tailor from Cremona, Italy, from whom he inherited the business, was known in the city for his mercy towards the poor, whom he not only clothed, but also fed with provisions that apparently were renewed in a miraculous way.
Biography
So much almsgiving alarmed his wife, but Homobono managed to convince her and he continued distributing clothes from his workshop, food and money and visiting and comforting the sick, without stopping practicing his devotions. He died in the temple during the celebration of a mass. When the priest was singing the Gloria Patri, Homobono stretched out his hands towards the altar and fell dead with his arms crossed, before the crucifix. His reputation for holiness was such that a few months later his statue was sculpted for the façade of the church of San Homobono in Cremona, and two years after his death he was canonized.
Practical advice
Trusting in God's grace, listen patiently to a person before advising them and offer that effort for someone who needs help.
