An Italian Franciscan brother, Humilde of Bisignano combined extraordinary mystical gifts with the simplest works of the community.
Biography
A farmer since he was a child, he participated daily in mass and meditated on the Passion while he worked. After years of waiting he joined the Franciscans and served in the garden, the dining room and the alms. His ecstasies and spirit of prophecy were subjected to tests and humiliations to discern their authenticity; he responded with obedience and peace. He advised people of all conditions and distributed what he received among the poor.
