The Holy Innocents are the children of Bethlehem killed by order of Herod after the Magi did not reveal where Jesus could be found.
Biography
They could not confess Christ with words, yet the Church honors them as martyrs because they died in his place and because of the violence directed against him. Their feast follows Christmas closely, reminding believers that the coming of the Savior meets both loving welcome and cruel rejection. The Innocents also direct Christian concern toward every child threatened by violence, exploitation, neglect, or rejection.
