Isaac Jogues and the martyrs of North America (1642–1649)
Martyrs
These martyrs are the Jesuit missionaries from Canada who suffered martyrdom at the hands of the Indians under atrocious circumstances.
Biography
Barbarically tortured, shot, burned alive, torn to pieces with tomahawk blows, they constitute an impressive picture of fidelity to their mission. None of them abandoned their position, and when they were canonized collectively in 1930 the Church made them models of the spiritual priorities of life itself.
Practical advice
As an offering to the Lord, support those who feel alone or intimidated with external order and internal recollection.
