Elizabeth of Shönau (1129–1165)

Benedictine nun

He entered the Benedictine monastery near Frankfurt, Germany.

Biography

Something is known about her life thanks to four books she wrote in which she recounts the horrible years of trials she experienced, with spiritual aridity, boredom and very strong temptations to doubt her faith, to the point of believing herself abandoned by God. The test ended with an apparition of the Virgin and other mystical visions and ecstasies. For her holy life of faith and service to her sisters, she received worship from the hour of her death.

Practical advice

During this day, ask for an undivided heart to love God and others without leaving for tomorrow the good that you can do today.
