Isabel Vendramini (1790–1860)
Franciscan nun
Italian religious, Isabel Vendramini left a marriage project to consecrate herself to God and serve those who lived in abandonment.
Biography
He worked with orphans, foundlings, sick elderly people, and poor families in Padua. With a companion she opened a free school in a marginalized neighborhood and founded the Elizabethan Franciscan Sisters, dedicated to education and assistance. He experienced humiliation, changes of course and lack of resources, but he maintained a deep union with Christ. He died before seeing the institute he had started canonically approved.
