An Italian layman and mystic, Itala Mela declared herself an atheist after the death of her younger brother.
Biography
During his university studies he sincerely asked God to make Himself known to him and experienced a profound conversion. She participated in the Italian Catholic University Federation, was a Benedictine Oblate and consecrated her life to the mystery of the Holy Trinity. A serious illness prevented him from entering a monastery, but he continued teaching, writing and providing spiritual guidance from his lay position. He transformed intellectual darkness and suffering into faithful searching.
