Jenaro, bishop and martyr (3rd century)

Being bishop of Benevento, he was martyred not far from Rome, in 305.

Biography

In the 5th century his remains were moved to Naples. The city appointed him protector. Each year, part of his solidified blood, stored in a vial, is expected to be transformed by the miracle of liquefaction. Rio de Janeiro has made the cult of Saint Jannaro famous. One more example of how our sacrifices and even death, have great effectiveness.

As an offering to the Lord, overcome human respect with a clean and brave word, remembering that holiness is built in the ordinary.
