Jeremiah of Wallachia (1556–1625)

Franciscan religious

Born in what is now Romania, Jeremiah traveled to Italy as a young man and entered Naples as a Capuchin brother.

Biography

His interior life was nourished by the Eucharist, the contemplation of Christ crucified and a tender devotion to the Virgin. For decades she cared for the sick, chose the most humble services and cared with special patience for those who were difficult or demanding. His charity went beyond the walls of the convent: poor, nobles and clerics sought his help and prayer. He died after falling ill while visiting a needy person, consumed by service.

Practical advice

Provide the most thankless service to a difficult person today, without reminding them afterwards of what you did for them.
