Jerome Emiliani (1486–1537)

Saint Jerome Aemilianus (1486-1537) Venetian nobleman who, after being in prison, converted from a worldly life and, since then, devoted his life to the indigent, especially the sick and orphans.
Biography
Together with some companions who joined him, he founded the Society of the Servants of the Poor (Somascan Fathers) in Somasca. He died of the plague, caring for the sick. Pope Pius XI declares him Patron of orphaned children.
