Practical advice
Write down today the moral principle that you are not willing to betray and apply it to a small but real decision.
Biography
A Catholic layman, husband, father and business employee from South Tyrol, José Mayr-Nusser was active in the Society of Saint Vincent and Catholic Action. Recruited by the SS, he conscientiously refused to swear allegiance to Hitler, even knowing it could cost him his life. He was convicted and died of exhaustion in a carriage during the transfer to Dachau. His decision did not seek a spectacular gesture: it expressed years of training, service to the poor and daily fidelity to Christ.
