Seven diocesan priests of Urgell gave their lives together for Christ during the religious persecution of the Spanish Civil War.
Biography
José Tàpies, Pascual Araguás, Silvestre Arnau, José Boher, Francisco Castells, Pedro Martret and José Juan Perot served as parish priests, vicars or chaplains in communities in Catalonia. They were imprisoned in La Pobla de Segur and taken to the entrance of the Salàs de Pallars cemetery, where they were shot on August 13, 1936. They faced death united in faith, forgiving their executioners and invoking the Virgin.
