Polish Catholic family, José and Victoria Ulma and their seven children were murdered for having hidden eight persecuted Jews during the Nazi occupation.
Biography
Farmers from Markowa, they lived a simple faith, hard-working and open to the community. Inspired by the commandment of love and the parable of the Good Samaritan, they welcomed the Goldmann family for a year and a half, aware of the risk of death. On March 24, 1944, the gendarmes discovered the shelter and killed the guests, the Ulma spouses and their children, including the child that Victoria was carrying in her womb.
