Juan Antonio Farina (1803–1888)
Bishop
Priest and later Italian bishop, Juan Antonio Farina understood education as the formation of the intelligence and the heart.
Biography
She founded the Teacher Sisters of Saint Dorothy, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts, to teach poor girls, care for the sick, and support families in need. As bishop of Treviso and Vicenza he promoted catechism, the training of the clergy and organized charity, visiting his people closely. He knew how to combine doctrinal firmness and social sensitivity. His work showed that teaching the truth also requires loving, accompanying and opening up real opportunities.
Practical advice
When teaching something today, check not only if the person understood the idea, but also if they felt respected and able to apply it.
