John Baptist de La Salle (1651–1719)

He is considered the father of modern pedagogy.
Biography
He is an innovator in education: teaching in groups, without shouting or hitting, with love for students and promoting firm convictions. He was one of the first to found a school that offered free and popular education to poor children. Some teachers gathered around this priest to form the Brothers of the Christian Schools (1684). He had to suffer harsh setbacks from his brothers when he was already an old man. He is Patron of educators. Let us pray for all teachers and collaborate in the education of others.
