John of Dukla (1414–1484)
Franciscan priest
Polish Franciscan, preacher and confessor, John of Dukla dedicated his life to prayer, evangelization and reconciliation of the faithful.
Biography
He joined the Conventual Friars Minor, was superior in Krosno and Lviv and then passed, with permission, to the observant branch of the Bernardines seeking greater austerity. He toured the region preaching and tirelessly attended the confessional. In his last years he became blind, but he continued preparing sermons and spiritually accompanying those who came to him. He died in Lviv and was revered as protector of Poland and Lithuania.
