Juan de Sahagun
Augustinian priest
(1430-1479) Born in Sahagún, Spain, he was ordained a priest at a very young age because he had great gifts of intelligence and spirituality.
Biography
He was a parish priest there for some time and then moved to Salamanca where he took the Augustinian habit. He was very popular for his kind and smiling way and for the purity of his life, but no one wanted to be his altar boy because his masses were endless: Christ appeared to him in the Host and spoke with him, and therefore, Saint John forgot his faithful. However, in the pulpit he spoke with great courage denouncing the abuses of his time, which earned him enemies who made attempts on his life, until one managed to cause his death by poisoning.
Practical advice
Today, in the presence of God, spend a few minutes asking for holy and generous vocations and end with a brief thanksgiving.
