Biography

It is said that he had an immense number of poor people whom he helped daily. Someone reminded him that among them there were quite a few lazy people and criminals, but Saint John responded: “I would rather be wrong a thousand times than offend the law of charity.” The miracle was that his box was never empty. The saint was not surprised, because he said that God can fill safes just as he can move mountains.
