John I, Pope and martyr (+ 526)
Martyr Pope
He was elected Pope in the year 523.
Biography
Theodoric, Arian king, launched a persecution against all those who held the true Catholic faith about Christ. Pope John was one of the first to be punished: first he was sent by the king to Constantinople with an embassy destined to fail; Later, also by order of the king, he was confined in a prison in Ravenna, where he died of hunger. We must demonstrate our fidelity to the Church even in adverse environments.
Practical advice
Today, in the presence of God, give up a comfort to remain faithful to your conscience and start again with humility if it doesn't work out for you.
