Juan Roig y Diggle, layman and martyr (1917–1936)

A young Spaniard from the Federation of Young Christians of Catalonia, Juan Roig y Diggle lived an intense friendship with Jesus in the Eucharist.

Biography

Student and worker, he trained other young people, defended the social doctrine of the Church and dedicated long hours to prayer. During the religious persecution he received permission to bring Communion to the faithful. When they went to arrest him, he consumed the consecrated forms to avoid desecration, said goodbye to his mother and forgave those who led him. He was shot at the age of nineteen proclaiming Christ the King.
