A lay woman from Como, Juanita Franchi gave up her property to care for the sick and convalescent poor.
Biography
She founded a shelter and a community of religious nurses who also visited those who could not enter the hospital. During a smallpox epidemic he personally served those infected and died a victim of the disease. She taught her sisters a universal charity, capable of embracing everyone without excluding anyone. Their dedication brought professional care and Christian presence to the most abandoned neighborhoods.
