Justo and San Viator (5th century)
Bishop and lector
When Saint Justus was Bishop of Lyon, France, they brought him a young man who had great qualities for religious life.
Biography
Saint Justus prepared him for the priesthood and for several years he was his secretary, since Saint Viator had very beautiful writing and copied the ancient manuscripts of the Bible and other books for use in the temple and the monastery. The bishop felt called to retire to the desert and secretly took the road to Egypt to dedicate himself to prayer and penance. But his secretary discovered him and asked him to take him with him. For many years they were in a desert monastery without it being known that one of them was a bishop. When the faithful of Lyon found them, Saint Justus spoke to them in such a way that he convinced them to also stay and live in the monastery. There the two inseparable companions died, a few days apart.
Practical advice
As you begin your work, seek to reconcile two people without increasing the conflict, remembering that holiness is built in the ordinary.
