Biography
He died in 618. He is the most popular saint in Ireland after Saint Patrick. He founded the monastery of Glendalough, near Dublin. At the beginning of his religious life it is said that he spent a long time praying standing with his arms crossed. He hardly took any food and was so absorbed in prayer that he did not notice that the birds were nesting in his hands.
