Doctor, husband and father of thirteen children, Ladislao Batthyány-Strattmann put his science at the service of the sick and poor.
Biography
Hungarian nobleman and specialist in surgery and ophthalmology, he founded hospitals where he treated those who could not pay for free. Before each operation he asked God for the patient and, in addition to medicine, he tried to offer comfort and Christian formation. They lived a deeply united marriage and raised their children in the faith. In his final illness he accepted great pain with hope and offering.
