Leonia Francisca de Sales Aviat (1844–1914)
Founding Salesian nun
French founder and disciple of the spirituality of Saint Francis de Sales, Leonia Aviat dedicated her life to young workers exposed to exploitation and abandonment.
Biography
With Father Luis Brisson, he founded the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales, which offered a home, education and Christian training to girls arriving in industrial cities. He governed the congregation with meekness and firmness, even accepting misunderstandings and exile. His life summed up the Salesian ideal of fulfilling the will of God with interior freedom and patient charity.
