Founding Benedictine Abbot
(+1100) He was born to a wealthy family and, after distributing his assets among the poor, he dressed in the clothes of one of his former servants and went on a pilgrimage to Rome.
Biography
Later he was a monk and abbot of a monastery in Auvergne, France, until Constance, wife of King Alfonso VI, called him to Spain to introduce the Roman liturgy. In Burgos he founded a Benedictine monastery, where he dedicated himself to meeting the needs of pilgrims traveling to Santiago de Compostela, and caring for the sick.
