Biography

He was a monk in Carthage, Tunisia. He was persecuted and imprisoned along with his companions by King Huneric for not wanting to convert to Arianism. The jailers were ordered to treat them harshly to force their apostasy. When the time of trial arrived, none of them were intimidated. They were sentenced to be burned to death on a firewood pyre, but the fire went out, so it was necessary to kill them with an oar before throwing them into the sea.
