August 3
Lydia (1st century)
family mother
She was a proselyte, that is, a pagan converted to Judaism.
Biography
He came from Hellenic Asia and lived from commerce at the gateway to the Aegean Sea, the city of Philippi. She became a Christian in the year 55 when Saint Paul was evangelizing in that region, along with his entire family. (Acts of the Apostles 16, 11-15) We can well think that Christianity began in Europe with the correspondence to the vocation of a mother of a family. Lidia began to fulfill her mission of Christianizing the entire world from within, starting with her home.
