Lucia Filippini (1672–1732)
Founding Educator
Orphaned since she was little, Lucía Filippini was called by Cardinal Marcantonio Barbarigo to collaborate in the Christian education of girls and women.
Biography
She founded the Filippini Pious Teachers and opened schools in Montefiascone, Rome and other locations, with special attention to those who lacked opportunities. She trained teachers capable of uniting catechesis, culture and preparation for life. His ideal was to illuminate intelligence and elevate the heart. Exhausted by apostolic work, she died in 1732, leaving behind an educational work that later spread to other countries.
