April 15

Lucius (1185–1250)

Husband

Being a prosperous Tuscan merchant, specializing in storing wheat to sell at a high price in times of scarcity, Lucio met his old entertainment companion, Francisco de Assis.

Biography

This saint converted him and when he finished writing his rule of the Third Order, Lucius and his wife were the first tertiaries. They distributed their goods among the poor and, in the small house they reserved for themselves, they dedicated the rest of their lives to housing and feeding the poor and sick. This charitable and good-natured couple had the grace to die almost simultaneously.

Practical advice

As you begin your work, give up a pleasure to materially help another person and end with a brief thanksgiving.
