Louis (1214–1270)

family man

The King of France, Louis IX, is a layman who struggled daily to achieve sainthood.

Biography

He was a wonderful husband and a father concerned about the education of his 11 children, whom he had with Margarita, his exemplary wife. Head of State attentive to justice and peace. He lived humbly and was very generous. In his will he wrote: "It is necessary to always avoid all serious sin, and be willing to suffer any other evil, rather than commit a mortal sin. The most important thing in life is to love God with all your heart. When pain and suffering come, we must offer everything for love of God and in payment for our sins. In the hours of success and prosperity we must give thanks to the Lord and not dedicate ourselves to vainglory. With the poor and afflicted we must be extremely generous. With the Holy Catholic Church Let us always be faithful and generous children.” Very practical advice.

Practical advice

Without seeking recognition, give up a pleasure to materially help another person by putting the result in the hands of God.
