Luis Brisson, priest (1817–1908)
Founding priest
French priest, educator and ingenious inventor, Luis Brisson founded the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales.
Biography
As chaplain of the Visitation in Troyes, he learned about Salesian spirituality and, given the situation of the young workers, he created houses where they could live, be trained and preserve the faith. Although at first he resisted the idea of founding new communities, he finally accepted the mission that Mother María de Sales Chappuis proposed to him. His scientific talent—he even built a precise astronomical clock—coexisted with an intense pastoral life. He taught to carry out daily duties with love and meekness.
