Luis Caburlotto (1817–1897)
Priest
Venetian priest and educator, Luis Caburlotto dedicated his life to rescuing children and young people affected by poverty through training.
Biography
As parish priest of San Giacomo dall'Orio he attended catechism and the sacraments, but he understood that abandoned youth also needed school, work and accompaniment. In 1850 he founded the Daughters of Saint Joseph to sustain this educational mission, inspired by the meekness of Saint Francis de Sales. He knew how to collaborate with civil institutions without giving up the Christian identity of his work.
