Four missionaries in the Congo—Saverians Luis Carrara, Juan Didonè and Victorio Faccin, and diocesan priest Alberto Joubert—died for remaining with their communities.
Biography
During the 1964 rebellion, marked by atheist violence and desecration, many foreigners left the region. They decided to stay to ensure the sacraments, the school and the pastoral care of the population. They were murdered on November 28 in Baraka and Fizi for their Christian and missionary identity. His martyrdom crowned a life of prayer and service to the little ones.
