Luis de la Consolata (Andrea Bordino) (1922–1977)

religious

Italian religious brother of the Little House of Divine Providence, Luis de la Consolata converted the suffering experienced in war into a delicate service to the sick.

Biography

Andrea Bordino was a peasant and soldier; During the Russian campaign he suffered captivity in Siberia, where, even weakened, he consoled other prisoners. Upon returning he entered the work of Cottolengo in Turin and took the name of Brother Luis. For decades he worked as a nurse, providing the most humble services with competence, strength and joy. Leukemia ended his life, accepted with the same trust with which he had cared for others.
