Luis María Monti, religious (1825–1900)
Founding religious
Italian lay religious and founder of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception, Luis María Monti especially served the sick and orphans.
Biography
Orphaned by his father at the age of twelve, he worked as a carpenter and gathered young workers in his workshop to pray, train and help those in need. He suffered an unjust accusation and seventy-two days in jail, but he persevered without resentment. She learned nursing and cared for cholera patients; Later he organized communities of consecrated lay people dedicated to hospitals and the education of children without families. His spiritual fatherhood caused everyone to call him “father.”
