Louis Stepinac (1898–1960)
Bishop
Archbishop of Zagreb, Luis Stepinac defended the dignity of Jews, Serbs, Gypsies and the persecuted during the Second World War, denouncing murders and forced conversions.
Biography
The communist regime then subjected him to political trial and imprisoned him for refusing to separate the Croatian Church from Rome. He spent his last years confined to his hometown, sick but firm. His life was marked by difficult historical decisions; The Church recognizes in him the pastor who sought to obey God and maintain ecclesial communion under two totalitarianisms.
Practical advice
Do not remain silent when faced with a comment that denies the dignity of a group; respond with facts and principles, not with insults.
