Bad (+640)
Monk
He was born in Clamorgen, Wales, England.
Biography
He was a monk at Llancarvan Abbey and with the aim of evangelizing the Bretons, Malo landed at the mouth of the River Rance, not far from the town that today bears his name in France: Saint Malo. The inhabitants of this region were so wild that he decided to start with them. By dint of zeal and courage, he ended up making the country a little more Christian. However, after twenty years, “the devil came to sow tares among his parishioners.” Convinced that there he was going to waste precious time for the apostolate refuting slander, he decided to transfer the bishopric and headed to Aquitaine. He stopped in Saintonge, where Christianity had spread little, and in that land he ended his life after having converted many souls.
