Manuel Lozano Garrido “Lolo”, layman (1920–1971)
Layman
Spanish Catholic journalist and writer, Manuel Lozano Garrido turned a serious disability into a chair of hope and apostolate.
Biography
Member of Catholic Action, during the religious persecution he clandestinely brought the Eucharist to imprisoned people. A rheumatic illness left him paralyzed and later blind, but he continued to write with joy about human dignity, the social doctrine of the Church and faith. He founded the work “Sinai” to spiritually unite sick people and journalists. From his wheelchair he showed that suffering does not eliminate the fruitfulness of a dedicated life.
