Marcellin and Peter, martyrs
Martyrs
(+304) Saint Marcellinus was a priest of the Church of Rome and Saint Peter its exorcist.
Biography
Both were known for their great virtue and heroism in the faithful performance of their duties. Saint Peter had great power against demons and cured diseases. The news of these prodigies reached Judge Sereno who gave orders for them to be arrested and imprisoned. Once Saint Marcellin and Saint Peter were imprisoned, the soldiers and jailers were surprised to find them always singing songs to the Lord and inviting others to join in their joy since they would soon have the joy of enjoying the vision of their Lord Jesus Christ. They were sacrificed in the persecution of Diocletian. The executioner in charge of beheading them told the future Pope Damasus that they were forced to dig their graves with their own hands and that they did so, full of joy. A Christian is not afraid of death, knowing that it is a change of house.
