An Italian Capuchin and great popular preacher, Mark of Aviano toured Europe calling for conversion, forgiveness and a renewed Christian life.
Biography
Born Carlos Domingo Cristofori, he joined the Capuchins and became famous for his simple preaching, accompanied by numerous conversions. Popes, bishops and rulers turned to his spiritual advice. In decisive circumstances he worked for the unity of Christian peoples and provided pastoral assistance to those who defended Vienna in 1683, ensuring that political action did not forget reconciliation or human dignity. He died in Vienna, appreciated for his humility and apostolic zeal.
