A Polish nun known as “mother of the poor and orphans,” Margaret Lucia Szewczyk served the needy even under tsarist persecution.
Biography
After caring for sick pilgrims in Jerusalem, he returned to his homeland and took in poor and abandoned elderly women. With the guidance of Blessed Honorato Koźmiński, she clandestinely founded the Sisters of the Poor, the origin of the Daughters of Our Lady of Sorrows. His charity united material help, daily work and spiritual comfort.
