Margaret Rutan, martyr (1736–1794)

Daughter of French Charity, Margarita Rutan trained as a nurse and served for years in hospitals, caring for patients of all conditions.
Biography
In Dax he organized hospital care and helped the poor even during the French Revolution. Falsely accused of disloyalty, she was convicted by a revolutionary court. On the way to the guillotine he supported another condemned man and refused to flee so as not to expose his sisters. He died heartily forgiving those who had prepared his condemnation.
