Maria Angela Truszkowska (1825–1899)

Polish nun and founder of the Felician Sisters, Maria Angela Truszkowska turned her love of prayer into organized service to the poor, orphans and the elderly.
Biography
Born Sofía Camila, she first cared for her sick father and then opened a small shelter for abandoned women and children in Warsaw. The work grew to become a congregation dedicated to education and charity. During the insurrection of 1863, his sisters treated the wounded without distinguishing sides, which caused the suppression of several houses. Sick and retired from the government, she supported the community for thirty years through prayer and silent offering.
