Mary Barbara of the Holy Trinity (1818–1873)
Founding religious
Austro-Brazilian religious and founder of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, María Bárbara de la Santísima Trinidad served the Church through prayer and charity.
Biography
Born Bárbara Maix in Austria, she suffered orphanhood, poverty and political persecution before emigrating to Brazil. There she gathered women willing to educate girls, care for the sick and take in abandoned people. He lived illnesses, misunderstandings and lack of resources with confidence in the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He taught to offer fatigue as a spiritual alms for the Church and the Pope.
