Queen of the Two Sicilies, wife and mother, Maria Christina of Savoy lived at court with simplicity, prayer and attention to the poor.
Biography
Educated deeply in the faith, she accepted the marriage with Ferdinand II as the will of God and exerted a discreet influence to promote clemency and works of charity. He protected the needy, favored religious initiatives and ensured that royal dignity was expressed in service. She died at the age of twenty-three, a few days after giving birth to her only son, offering her life with Christian confidence.
