Mary Crucified Curcio (1877–1957)
Carmelite religious missionary founder
Italian Carmelite nun and founder, Mary Crucified Curcio united contemplation with education and mission among the poor.
Biography
As a teenager, she discovered the spirituality of Carmel when she read the life of Saint Teresa of Jesus, despite family opposition and having to interrupt her studies. After years of difficulties, she founded the Congregation of the Carmelite Missionaries of Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus to train girls in need and bring the Gospel to other towns. He lived the trials with firmness, tenderness and trust in Providence.
